Is parcelling persistent?

If I parcel out my var region and then upload a new terrain, is the parcelling persistent?

I ask this because I would like to create an empty world, parcel it out and then upload the terrain file I actually want.

And as a second question, is there a 1024 empty .raw file somewhere that I can use?

Thank you :-)

Fam

Hi Famously,

Each Kitely world is a single OpenSim VarRegion on the Kitely grid. You can permanently parcel it using the viewer and then use all the viewer options that are provided for parcels. Note that this doesn't split the world into multiple separate regions so options that apply via the viewer to the entire region will continue to do so even if the world contains multiple parcels.

The option to download or upload RAW files is a Region option not a Parcel option, so you can't upload/download RAW files to/from individual parcels but you can do so for the entire world at once, see:

Maybe I wasn't clear.

I want to parcel a flat var region and then upload a new raw file to replace the whole var region.

Will the parcels persist, or will I have to parcel the var region again?

Teraforming (either manually or via RAW file) doesn't change parceling.

Hi Famously!

I created an Empty 4x4 just now for you... below are two file downloads, one for Terrain .raw, the other is .oar
These files are on Kitely's servers, I don't know how long the link stays valid, but I have them in my downloads as well, so let me know if these links don't work.

As far as I know you can not assemble 1x1 .oars onto a larger var region.. at least not without using an external program of some sort.
Though it would be super cool if you could, this feature went away when Kitely went to var regions I believe.

EMPTY 4x4 Terrain .oar

btw - if you like ghost stories and would like to meet some of the Kitely Kool Kids.. you are welcome to come to the Live Storytelling this Thursday evening.. here's more info... viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6979

Please note that using Replace World to upload an OAR file will replace whatever parcels that currently exists in your world with those that are defined in the OAR file. As a result, if you wish to maintain the existing parcels in your world then you should use the RAW file option instead of the OAR one.
